Viewing test reports and test logs

In addition to the result data, individual test runs might have generated reports specific to the test type. You can view the details of the test reports and test logs from the Results page in HCL OneTest™ Server of tests run and published from the HCL OneTest Server or the desktop clients.

Before you begin

Before you can view reports you must have run tests from the Execution page in the HCL OneTest Server and the tests must have run for the results to be displayed in the Results page. See Running tests.

Before you can view reports published from the desktop clients, certain tasks must be completed:

You must have configured the desktop client to publish the test reports of tests that run in the desktop client to the HCL OneTest Server. See Publishing test reports.
You must have run the tests from the desktop client.
If the test results and reports are not automatically populated in the results page of the HCL OneTest Server, then you must manually republish the test results from the desktop client to the HCL OneTest Server.

About this task

You can view the test reports and logs of the tests that were run in HCL OneTest Server by using the test assets configured in your project. Tests that ran successfully are shown as Complete under the Status column while the Verdict column displays the verdict of the test as Pass, Fail, or Inconclusive. Tests with Error verdict imply that the tests encountered an error when run.

Procedure

From the HCL OneTest Server UI, navigate to the Results page.
The Results page provides you with a comprehensive view of all the results of the tests that were run in the project.
Find the test you are interested in and expand the results details panel by clicking the Test name in the row.
For tests run in the HCL OneTest Server:
- The results DETAILS and Reports panel is displayed.
  You can view the details of the test assets used in the test run in the Details panel. The details about the Git repository that contains the test assets are displayed. You can view the reports and test logs of the test by clicking them.
For tests that ran in desktop clients and published to HCL OneTest Server
- The results details and reports panel is displayed.
  You can view the reports and test logs of the test by clicking them.
  Notes:
  - There are no details about the Git repositories displayed for the test assets used in the test run in desktop clients.
  - You can view the results of the tests published from the desktop clients by using the filter option in the Results page. Set up a rule in the filter and set the value of the Repository equal to Unmanaged and click the filter icon. This action filters and displays tests which were run outside of HCL OneTest Server.
The reports for the test type are listed in the Reports panel. For details about the reports published for the different test types, see Table 1.

Viewing test reports

Open the report you want to view from the list in the Reports panel. The report is displayed in a browser.
Note: The test reports generated for tests run in a project are different from the tests run in a different project even though the same test assets were used to run the tests.

Viewing test logs

Open the test log from the list in the Reports panel. The test log is displayed in a browser.
The test logs are displayed for specific test types. For the test types that generate the test log, see Table 1.

Results

You can view the report or the log of the tests that ran in the HCL OneTest Server or in desktop clients, in a web browser.
